About the Author
Originally from Paris, France, Dr Geschwind pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania before receiving his medical degree in 1991 from Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his diagnostic radiology residency training at the University of California, San Francisco and trained in cardiovascular and interventional radiology at Johns Hopkins, where he became a faculty member in 1998. In 2002, Dr. Geschwind was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor and appointed Director of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology. He is the author or co-author of over 200 published manuscripts and abstracts primarily on subjects dealing with cardiac MRI and oncology, and he is also the recipient of numerous national and international awards and grants for his research in the field of liver cancer. Dr Geschwind is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (JVIR), Techniques in Vascular and Interventional Radiology, and the World Journal of Gastroenterology and a reviewer for numerous radiology and oncology journals. He is a member of the Hepatobiliary Task Force of the National Cancer Institute and has been a Board Member of the Society of Interventional Radiology Research Foundation since 2006. Dr Geschwind is an active member of the American Association for Cancer Research, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the International Liver Cancer Association, the American Roentgen Ray Society, the Radiology Society of North America, the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), and the Cardiovascular and Interventional Society of Europe.

Dr Soulen received his BS from Yale and MD from the University of Pennsylvania, then trained in radiology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. After clinical and research fellowships in vascular and interventional radiology at Thomas Jefferson University, he started the interventional oncology program at the University of Pennsylvania, where he is currently Professor of Radiology and Surgery. Dr Soulen has 140 publications with over 1,500 ISI citations and has given over 100 presentations around the world. He served on the board of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) for 9 years and currently serves as Director of Research Education for the SIR Foundation. He is a Fellow of the SIR and of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Society of Europe (CIRSE).

About the Author
Marlaine C. Smith, RN, PhD, AHN-BC, FAAN, is Dean and Helen K. Persson Eminent Scholar in the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, Florida Atlantic University (FAU). From 1988 to 2006 she was on the faculty of the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center School of Nursing, serving as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Director of the Center for Integrative Caring Practice for six years. She has been a nurse educator since 1976 with other faculty appointments at Duquesne University, Pennsylvania State University, and LaRoche College in Pittsburgh. Dr. Smith's research has focused on outcomes of touch therapies as an expression of caring. She has written a variety of theoretical, philosophical, research, practice, and review articles related to caring. Her most recent work has been the development of a middle range theory of unitary caring. With Marilyn Parker she co-edited the third edition of Nursing Theories and Nursing Practice.

This is a valuable collection of scholarly contributions to the Meta -paradigm of Caring Science. The book is well organized into sections that provide an exploration and analysis of the evolution of caring science. It includes theoretical perspectives, research studies, research designs and methods, and practice models for integrating caring science into a variety of practice settings. It provides a wonderful foundation for understanding core concepts in caring theory. I would recommend this collection to nursing students, faculty, and healthcare leaders across disciplines. This book will be of particular value to nursing scholars and researchers as it provides templates for study methods and designs. Mostly, I would encourage all those nurses who were called to the nursing profession,and who know deeply in their hearts the essence of caring to explore this book and share it with your colleagues. Another great collection from GLH Publishing

I owe GLH Publishing no small thanks for making collections like this available. With a working Table of Contents, you can easily navigate through four of Baxter's classics plus six great entries from the Christian Directory (which I believe serves as the world's first Christian counseling manual). I own most of these works in hard copy, but I will be reading them much more now that they're on my Kindle.

I am very much hoping that you will continue release collections like this. May I suggest The Essential Works of John Owen for a future project?

I have a couple of his books so I was interested when I saw his works were available electronically. I'm very grateful that some of these "centuries old" writers are being made available. There is so much depth to them. For example his message on "Parents and Children" is excellent. Covers everything.

Cute but lacking

It was okay.I got it for free so I didn't set higher standards.Story needs more depth but if you're looking for explicit language fling then this is basically what you want.Other then that it needs more descriptive details and story line.In my opinion it was a over dramatic story with out much of a story line.

I am now a huge fan of this author! I have read one other book of hers that was good but this book was too good to put down! I was amazed there were no other reviews so I had to give my 2 cents....buy it! The love scenes were hot- In fact I might even try some myself. ;-)

Complex characters, yet easy to read book....

I liked reading this book. The characters were complex and imperfect. These were two people who had huge baggage. Garth was a tortured soul who had gone through a lot in his past and was having difficulty moving forward and living. Chloe was a girl scarred by her relationship with her bipolar mother and most recently by the betrayal she endured with her long time boyfriend.

Chloe finally decides to do something crazy and goes sky diving. There, she meets Garth, a Dive instructor. Even though these two were attracted immediately, they don't act on it. Chloe cannot see herself who takes so much risk for a living. Garth really likes Chloe and is suprised by his reaction towards her, yet he doesn't do anything to pursue her because of his past. Their lives seem to cross path again and getting involved seemed inevitable.

Both character's had their own demons to battle, yet one thing was really clear, they really liked each other and seemed to be gravitating towards one another. They were meant to be together. It was interesting to see them both try to overcome their hangups and seek their happily ever after. Story was well told and captivating. Romance was cute and book was overall enjoyable.

Both poems have been translated by the author within this novel.

Teresa Ng is a Chinese/American born in Hong Kong and educated in the United States. Prior to retirement, she had twenty-three years of a career in Insurance Underwriting and also ten years part-time position in a county library. Currently, she and her husband are making their home in a beautiful senior community in Kensington, Maryland. The Ng's are blessed with three children and six grandchildren. About ten years ago, while on the job in the library, Teresa was inspired by the abundance of Chinese cultural reading materials there. She started writing and illustrating books based mostly upon the culture, legends, and wisdom of ancient China. Tang dynasty

My favorite book is The Court of the Lion about the Tang dynasty and I loved reading a different view of my favorite characters. Teresa does a great job taking you back to this long ago time and I really enjoyed it. Please write more of the ancient courts,Teresa! :-)

Worse than a Harlequin novel

I really really did not enjoy this book, even though I thoroughly enjoyed Mud Blossom, also by Ms. Ng. I believe I gave that book a 4 or 5 star review because it was interesting and actually had a plot.

That was NOT this book at all.

The focus of this book, is in one word - sex. The main character is a Mary Sue - innocent, naive, generous, and completely lacking in personality. She is however, extremely sensual, and Ms. Ng spends the entire book talking about her various sexual exploits with men. I nearly stopped reading when at one point, the author referred to the character's "mega-breasts" (her words, not mine) - Really? REALLY?

The history of the An Lu Shan rebellion is actually extremely compelling. The aging emperor of China became obsessed with Consort Yang, ignoring his duties to the court and empire. His obsession with her allowed her grasping family to secure lucrative posts at court. They conspired with various factions to obtain wealth and land, while the Emperor's most loyal servants were ignored or turned away. A interesting power struggle existed between the Yang family, Li Linfu (the top governmental official at the time, and the head of an extensive spy network), general An Lu Shan (a barbarian general who ultimately led the rebellion), and the Emperor's life long friend and advisor, the enunch Gao Lishi.

The author glosses over all of the political intrigue and epic drama with a few pages - instead spending a good 90% of the book in the bedroom. She also could use a better editor, as her writing contains many mannerisms and errors characteristic of a native Chinese speaker for whom English is a second language. It interrupts the flow, and gives the book a distinctly awkward "if-you-had-a-conversation-about-sex-with-an-old-lady-in-Chinatown" quality. I found this book exceedingly awkward to read as a result, and the content was very disappointing.

If you are still interested in this subject matter and are looking for a well-written and well researched historical novel, with all the interesting plot twists and intrigue and arresting characters that this book lacked, I would highly recommend "The Court of the Lion". If you still want some light reading, but maybe a little less on the sex, and a little bit more historical context and character development, I would recommend Teresa Ng's other book, Mud Blossom instead.

While the story was fascinating, I felt like Teresa is in need of a new editor. The errors in the book is appalling and distracts from the fluidity of the narration. It's also keeping my from buying her other books as I'm afraid it might cause my OCD to flare up. Seriously, get a new editor, and one that at the very least, knows intermediate grammar.
